Electric Locomotive Research Center (abbreviated as ELRC)was established in August 2022 to support the development of the National Key Laboratory of Heavy-Haul, High-Speed, and High-Power Electric Locomotives.
Guided by the Four-Pronged Strategic Principles, the Center is closely aligned with major national strategies and critical rail transit engineering needs. It focuses on international scientific and technological frontiers, dedicating its efforts to pioneering technology exploration, fundamental theoretical research, and engineering application breakthroughs in the field of heavy-haul, high-speed, and high-power electric locomotives.
Aiming to achieve national technological self-reliance and strength, the Center strives to pool high-end innovation resources and strategic scientific and technological capabilities, and is committed to building a high-level research platform that is distinctive and preeminent in China's locomotive technology sector.
The Center's main research directions encompass four key areas:
High-Efficiency, Low-Carbon, High-Power Propulsion Technology;
Vehicle Low-Dynamic Action and Structural Optimization Technology;
Autonomous Collaborative Control for Heavy-Haul Locomotives and Trains;
Digital Twin Technology for Electric Locomotives;
Through theoretical innovation, technological breakthroughs, and the translation of research outcomes, the Center aims to enhance China's independent innovation capability and international competitiveness in heavy-haul, high-speed electric locomotives, thereby supporting the high-quality development of rail transit equipment.
