On March 28, a series of seven association standards titled Cooperative Intelligent Connected Vehicles Based on Advanced Mobile Communication, led by Professor Helai Huang of the Smart Transportation Team at the School of Traffic & Transportation Engineering, Central South University, and jointly developed with China Merchants Chongqing Communications Technology Research & Design Institute Co., Ltd., Hunan University, Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, and other institutions, were officially released by the Chinese Association of Automation at the 2026 National Conference on New Quality Productive Forces and Intelligent Industry Development. The release of the standards was reported by the School of Transportation Engineering and Central South University.

The series of standards is based on Key Technologies of Cooperative Intelligent Connected Vehicles Based on Advanced Mobile Communication, the country’s first National Key R&D Program vehicle platform project for intelligent connected vehicles. Focusing on the core needs of advanced mobile communication technologies in cooperative driving applications for intelligent connected vehicles, the standards cover such areas as procedures for constructing operational design conditions, a cooperative driving scenario database, and an information architecture for connected cooperative driving. They fill major gaps in standards for key links such as cooperative driving testing and cooperative decision-making on complex roads, and provide solid technical support and standard guidance for the healthy, orderly, and high-quality development of China’s intelligent connected vehicle industry.

According to the university’s report, the release of the standards also received coverage from major national media outlets, including People’s Daily and CCTV. The standards were released in the context of the 2026 conference organized by the Chinese Association of Automation, which was held in Guangzhou from March 27 to 28.
