Congratulations!
Professor Jaeyoung Jay Lee (李载宁) was recently elected as a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (F.ASCE). He is a faculty member in the School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering at Central South University.

F.ASCE is the highest level of membership in the prestigious global organization. ASCE was founded in 1852. It is the oldest and most respected global organization in civil and transportation engineering. The society currently has over 160,000 members across 177 countries. The selection process for an ASCE Fellow is highly rigorous. This prestigious title is awarded to fewer than 3% of all members. It is strictly reserved for leading scholars with outstanding academic and professional achievements.
Professor Lee earned this honor through his extensive work in traffic safety and Intelligent Transportation Systems. His election is a major international recognition of his personal expertise. It also reflects the strong global reputation of Central South University in these fields.
"I am truly honored to be elected as an ASCE Fellow, as it represents the highest level of leadership in global transportation and civil engineering," Professor Lee stated. "My team and I will continue to pursue innovative research on the safety and efficiency of future transportation systems. We are also committed to advancing international academic exchange and practical collaboration."

Professor Lee focuses on advanced research in traffic safety prediction models and Intelligent Transportation Systems. His work also explores connected and automated vehicles and driver behavior. He is a highly influential figure in the international academic community. Notably, Stanford University and Elsevier have named him to their "World's Top 2% Scientists" list for six consecutive years (2020–2025). Beyond his research, Professor Lee serves as an Associate Editor for Accident Analysis & Prevention (AAP), a top-tier journal in traffic safety. He also holds this same role at Transportation Research Record (TRR), a highly respected publication in the broader transportation field. At Central South University, he leads the SPIRiT Laboratory (Safety & Planning Innovative Research in Transportation). Through this lab, he is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of global leaders in transportation engineering.
