Tsinghua University Department of Automation Visits CSU School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering

On June 6, a delegation led by Gu Jin, Party Committee Secretary of the Department of Automation at Tsinghua University, visited the School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering at Central South University (CSU). The meeting was attended by Yuan Shiping, Party Committee Secretary of the School, Huang Helai, Dean of the School, as well as faculty and student representatives. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including Party building work, talent recruitment, program development, student admissions and career placement, and scientific research achievements.

Secretary Yuan Shiping extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation from Tsinghua University. He noted that the Department of Automation boasts a profound historical heritage and a comprehensive disciplinary system, consistently leading the way in cultivating innovative talent and tackling cutting-edge technological challenges, thereby contributing numerous leading professionals to the nation’s modernization efforts. The visit was particularly honored as it coincided with the annual National College Entrance Examination period. He emphasized that this symposium provided a valuable opportunity for the two institutions to deepen collaboration in science and education and jointly cultivate talent for the new era.

Dean Huang Helai, drawing on the School’s “Locomotive Spirit,” systematically introduced the School’s historical development, Party building and ideological-political work, faculty composition, talent cultivation, disciplinary development, scientific research and teaching achievements, development goals, and education and training programs. He particularly highlighted the School’s outstanding accomplishments in the construction of major research platforms.

During the exchange and discussion session, both sides engaged in detailed discussions focusing on issues such as faculty team development, disciplinary advancement, scientific research achievements, and platform construction.

Prior to the symposium, the Tsinghua University delegation toured the School’s High-Speed Train Research Center and the National Key Laboratory of Heavy Haul and High-Speed High-Power Electric Locomotives. Chen Feng, Director of the Experimental Center, provided a detailed introduction to the center’s teaching activities, facilities, and operational management.
