On April 30, the results of the 2025 China Youth May Fourth Medal and the New Era Youth Pioneer Award were announced. The Rail Transit Aerodynamics and Collision Safety Technology Innovation Team of Central South University was honored with the collective title of ‘China Youth May Fourth Medal’.

The Rail Transit Aerodynamics and Collision Safety Technology Innovation Team of Central South University has pioneered research fields in China such as rail transit aerodynamics and train collision dynamics. Focusing on major national projects including the Fuxing high-speed trains and the Beijing-Shanghai and Qinghai-Tibet railways, the team has tackled critical challenges such as aerodynamic constraints on high-speed railway development, strong winds endangering operational safety, and significant casualties caused by train collisions. Their work has supported China’s high-speed rail system in achieving the leap from catching up to leading the world, writing a magnificent chapter in the global ascent of China’s high-speed rail technology.
