On November 19-20, the 2024 Annual Meeting of the Central South University Alumni Entrepreneurs Association and the Conference on Deep Integration of Technological Innovation and Industrial Innovation were held in Changsha. The School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering, the School of Civil Engineering, and the School of Architecture and Art participated in the conference and hosted the closed-door industry exchange meeting and industry chain supply-demand matching conference on ‘Advanced Transportation and Intelligent Construction’.
On the morning of November 19, to deepen university-enterprise cooperation, Central South University announced at this conference the launch of the construction of 14 university-enterprise joint laboratories. Among these, the School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering and the School of Civil Engineering serve as the main units responsible for constructing five projects:
Intelligent Transportation and Low-Altitude Economy Industrialization Base: Jointly established by Central South University and multiple partners including Beijing Wanji Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing Senscomm Electronics Co., Ltd., CRSC Low-Altitude Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., Hunan Expressway Group Co., Ltd., Hunan Xiangjiang Intelligent Technology Innovation Center Co., Ltd., Shenyang Hepu Railway Technology Co., Ltd., Jiangyin Binjiang Ship Equipment Co., Ltd., Changsha CRRC Zhiyu New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., Hunan Huari Innovation Center Co., Ltd., Hunan Niuhu Technology Co., Ltd., Hunan Zhongda Jinmei Transportation Technology Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Bozhong Xinhe Private Equity Investment Fund Management Partnership, and Hunan Intelligent Transportation Industry Association.
The establishment of this base aims to create an industrialization base integrating the ‘four-in-one’ structure of Central South University’s Intelligent Transportation Pilot Base, Zhongda Intelligent Transportation Research Institute Co., Ltd., Central South University Science Park Intelligent Transportation Industrial Park, and the Intelligent Transportation Industry Alliance. Centered around the ‘Six Horizontals and Three Verticals’ framework (where the ‘Six Horizontals’ refer to expressways, urban transportation, rail transit, low-altitude aviation, parking management, and multimodal transport; the ‘Three Verticals’ refer to human factors safety, intelligent connected systems, and digital assets), it will promote technological innovation, achievement transformation, and industrial development in fields such as the low-altitude economy and intelligent transportation.

Rail Transit Modern Industry Comprehensive Platform: Jointly established by Central South University and Beijing National Railway Research & Design Institute of Signal & Communication Group Co., Ltd., it aims to promote technological innovation and industrial upgrading in the rail transit field through deep integration of industry, academia, and research. This platform will integrate the advantageous resources of both parties in scientific research, technology development, standard formulation, and talent cultivation, dedicated to providing advanced technical support and solutions for the rail transit industry and enhancing its overall competitiveness.
New Power Technology and Product Testing Base: Jointly established by Central South University and Changsha Yuelu Mountain National University Science City Construction Investment Co., Ltd., it aims to promote the research, development, and industrial application of new power technologies, and facilitate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and technological innovation. This base will integrate the research strengths of both parties in the fields of energy, power systems, and intelligent control, focusing on the research, development, testing, and verification of cutting-edge technologies such as new energy power, electric vehicles, and energy storage technology.

Changsha Intelligent Construction Research Institute: Jointly founded by four parties: Sany Group Co., Ltd., Central South University, Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee, and Changsha Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau. It aims to integrate emerging technologies, interdisciplinary knowledge, and other frontier knowledge to jointly build a global R&D center for intelligent construction, promoting the development of intelligent construction technology in the civil engineering industry.

Bio-based Building Materials Joint Laboratory: Jointly established through an agreement between Central South University and Anhui Beijia Green Building Materials Co., Ltd., it aims to build a world-class joint laboratory for bio-based building materials, develop low-carbon, green building material technology and industry based on biomaterials, and promote the application of bio-based building materials and products in various civil engineering projects such as railways, roads, municipal works, and building construction.
