At 2:00 PM on May 23, the Wenqu Gallery at Central South University hosted the “Integrating Youthful Ideals into the Cause of Building a Strong Transportation Nation” Wenqu Classroom thematic activity. This event was organized by the Central South University Student Affairs Department (Office) and hosted by the School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering. The keynote speaker for this classroom session was Yuan Shiping, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering at Central South University. Song Xiaodong, Deputy Director of the Central South University Student Affairs Department, Li Yuan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering, and thousands of teachers and students participated both online and offline.

At the beginning of the class, the host, student Fang Qinhan, provided a detailed introduction of the event guests and outlined the theme, process, and key content of this Wenqu Classroom session. Subsequently, Secretary Yuan recommended the book “Ordinary World” to the students. This book describes the story of a child from an ordinary family growing up, striving, and pursuing dreams during China’s reform and opening-up period. Quoting the line from the book, “Even the most ordinary person must fight for the existence of his world,” he inspired the students present to strive tirelessly for their ideals.

Afterwards, starting from the development history of the School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering, Secretary Yuan emphasized the importance of transportation to the nation. He then provided examples from various aspects, briefly describing the contributions Central South University has made to the nation’s transportation reform and development, igniting the patriotic passion of every Central South student present.
“Ideals guide the direction of life, and conviction determines the success or failure of one’s career.” As the class progressed, Secretary Yuan clarified the meaning and characteristics of ideals and convictions for the students. He further elaborated on the proper meaning of ideals and convictions from three aspects: “Ideals and convictions lie in the family, the nation, and the world,” “Ideals and convictions should be combined with interests and majors,” and “Ideals and convictions require seeking truth and surpassing limitations.”
Towards the end of the class, Secretary Yuan used the example of the Long March to once again emphasize the necessity of ideals and convictions for young people. He expressed his hope that students would strengthen their ideals and convictions on the new “Long March” road and serve the construction of a strong transportation nation!
During the teacher-student exchange session, Secretary Yuan engaged in cordial communication with the students. When asked how to combine one’s major with discovering one’s own characteristics to better study and live, Secretary Yuan, drawing on the goals and steps of personal growth planning, encouraged students to improve their professional competence and become leaders, pioneers, and strivers in national rejuvenation and the building of a strong nation!

Youthful talent development requires a common commitment from students. Finally, students spontaneously pressed their fingerprints onto a whiteboard inscribed with the words “Have ideals, dare to take responsibility, be able to endure hardship, and be willing to struggle,” further solidifying their belief in integrating youthful ideals into the cause of building a strong transportation nation. With this, the event concluded successfully.

Building roads and bridges, connecting all directions, the development of transportation supports a flowing China. Born in prosperous times and shouldering heavy responsibilities, Central South students should create a splendid China with their youthful selves. May students strengthen their ideals and convictions, temper their revolutionary will, inherit the Central South spirit, serve the construction of a strong transportation nation, strive with determination, continue the struggle, and write the youthful chapter of Central South transportation professionals in the new era!
