On the afternoon of May 25, a delegation led by Luo Hengjiang, Party Committee Secretary of Jiangxi Industrial Engineering Vocational and Technical College, visited the School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering at Central South University (CSU) for a research exchange on Party building work. The delegation consisted of 40 members, including Zeng Lin, Party Committee Member and Head of the Organization (United Front Work) Department, secretaries of Party organizations at various levels, newly appointed cadres, and full-time organizational staff. The research meeting was attended by Professor He Zhijun, former Party Committee Secretary of the School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering; Lu Zhaijun, Secretary of the Faculty Party Branch of the High-Speed Train Research Center, and Zhang Lei, its Organizational Committee Member; Party branch representative Zhang Guoliang; and other relevant personnel.

The delegation, led by Secretary Luo Hengjiang, first visited the Railway Garden Science Education Base at CSU’s Railway Campus. They received a detailed introduction to the construction history of the School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering and its outstanding contributions to the development of China’s rail transit. Professor He Zhijun introduced the construction of the Railway Garden National Science Education Base to the delegation. Secretary Luo Hengjiang expressed great pride in the rapid development of China’s high-speed railway and was deeply moved and impressed by the spirit and actions of generations of faculty and students from CSU’s School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering, who have courageously shouldered responsibilities, overcome difficulties, and pursued innovation in the development of the railway transportation system.

Subsequently, the delegation visited the High-Speed Train Research Center of the School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering for a Party building work exchange activity. Secretary Lu Zhaijun provided a detailed introduction to China’s first independently developed dynamic model test platform for the aerodynamic characteristics of high-speed wheel-rail/maglev trains at speeds of 500-600 km/h, the passenger compartment environment assurance test platform, and China’s first full-vehicle-level collision test platform. The dynamic model test process of high-speed trains was demonstrated on-site. Secretary Luo consulted Secretary Lu in detail on train aerodynamic shape design, performance evaluation, and product development, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the technological R&D processes for aerodynamic design and collision safety assurance in China’s high-speed train and maglev transportation systems. During this time, Secretary Luo engaged in cordial exchanges with researchers, noting that it is precisely through the continuous strengthening of basic research and systematic experimental verification by China’s railway workers that breakthroughs in core rail transit technologies have been accelerated.

In the subsequent Party building work exchange, Secretary Lu Zhaijun, under the theme “Party Building Leads, Pursuing Excellence, Supporting the Transportation Power Strategy, and Civil-Military Integration,” provided a detailed introduction to the Party building work of the Faculty Party Branch of the High-Speed Train Research Center from three aspects: the basic situation of the branch, Party building work methods, and insights. He shared experiences as one of the first national model Party building branches, showcasing the formulation of systems, analysis and archiving of Party building materials, and promotion of Party building methods and measures during the construction of the model branch. He stated that closely adhering to the requirements of the “Seven Strengths,” formulating corresponding institutional systems, innovating theoretical study and practical measures and methods, and inheriting and further developing the fine tradition of the team system were key to the successful construction and acceptance of the Faculty Party Branch of the High-Speed Train Research Center. Secretary He Zhijun introduced the basic situation of CSU’s School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering in terms of disciplinary strength and characteristics, talent cultivation, innovation capability and contributions, and serving national economic and social development needs. He also detailed the main achievements and construction experiences of the School’s benchmark department Party building work. Focusing on the overall goal of creating a “National Party Building Benchmark Department with CSU Characteristics and National First-Class Standards,” the School’s Party Committee formulated the “Implementation Measures for Creating a Benchmark Department in the School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering at CSU” construction plan, implemented five key tasks of the benchmark department Party building project, and actively explored new, inheritable, and replicable models for Party building work in secondary colleges. During the meeting, both sides engaged in in-depth exchanges on Party building work, discussing topics such as the application and construction of model Party branches and benchmark departments, Party member development, and the organization of Party Day activities.

Luo Hengjiang stated that CSU’s School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering holds an important historical position in China’s railway transportation system, having cultivated a large number of railway professionals and built teaching and research teams with outstanding teaching capabilities, scientific research strength, and social contributions. The spirit of serving the nation through science and technology and pursuing excellence displayed by the School is moving, and the achievements in Party building work are inspiring. He sincerely thanked the School for its significant contributions to China’s railway development and extended heartfelt congratulations on its fruitful achievements in Party building, teaching, and scientific research. He expressed hope to strengthen cooperation and exchanges with CSU’s School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering, establish a joint Party building platform, and jointly advance the comprehensive development of Party building work.
