Sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and hosted by the School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering at Central South University, the Master’s Program in Rail Transit (Equipment) is the School’s first cohort-based master’s degree program for international students. The program aims to strengthen the technical capacity and talent pool of developing countries in high-speed rail and electric multiple unit (EMU) technologies, expand China’s international influence, and promote regional connectivity. Drawing on its distinctive teaching and academic strengths, the School joined MOFCOM’s foreign-aid training initiative in 2015 and has hosted this program continuously since 2016, for ten consecutive years. A total of 243 students from nearly 20 countries—including Ethiopia, Laos, Sudan, Rwanda, Brazil, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria—have participated in the program. To date, 192 students have graduated and 51 are currently enrolled.
