In September 2024, Central South University, the Government of Indonesia, and GEM Co., Ltd. jointly launched the Indonesian Government–Central South University–GEM Co., Ltd. Joint International Master’s Program in Transportation Engineering. The program admitted 21 Indonesian students in 2024 and 22 in 2025. It is designed to cultivate talent for major international infrastructure projects comparable to the Addis Ababa–Djibouti Railway and the Jakarta–Bandung High-Speed Railway. The program also aims to become a model of scientific, technological, and people-to-people exchange under the Belt and Road Initiative, serving as a bridge of friendship that brings people closer and deepens mutual understanding. By nurturing a cohort of students who understand China, hold goodwill toward China, and actively promote international exchange and cooperation, the program contributes Central South University’s expertise and commitment to building a global community with a shared future.
