The Rail Transit Operation Research Team closely aligns with the transportation organization demands of high-speed railways, intercity railways and urban rail transit. It has achieved a series of landmark theoretical outcomes, including the passenger ticket sales and reservation system, market-oriented passenger ticket pricing strategies, optimization theories for rail transit operation plans and train diagrams, as well as the rail transit flow balance theory, thus forming distinct research features and advantages.

The team has undertaken 3 national key R&D programs and more than 20 National Natural Science Foundation projects (including 4 key projects), and obtained 30 invention patents and software copyrights. Its passenger ticket sales and reservation system won the First Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award and the First Prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award of the Ministry of Railways, and its intelligent compilation of train diagrams, train operation plan and dynamic ticket price earned the First and Second Prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award of the China Railway Society. The technologies for high-speed train operation planning under networked conditions and intelligent compilation of urban rail transit operation plans have passed appraisals and reached the international leading level.
