Aiming to serve major national defense strategic needs, the institution has focused on liquid-gas phase change power technology and product development. It has established distinctive working fluid systems, cooling technologies, and experimental facilities for phase change applications, achieving world-leading performance in cold-launch tests for multiple mass-scale payloads. Core equipment has entered prototype development stages and is being actively promoted across military branches. In 2021, Central South University established the Extreme Hydrodynamic Energy Frontier Science Center, creating policy support zones to advance next-generation power technologies. Approved by the Ministry of Education in 2022, the university developed the "Key Core Technology Integration Platform for Phase Change Power Systems." Its R&D framework includes specialized divisions for system engineering, structural analysis, simulation applications, testing control, and field experimentation, complemented by a comprehensive management system comprising project coordination, quality assurance, confidentiality protocols, safety oversight, and administrative support. The institution has built an integrated talent pool and supplier network covering design, material science, manufacturing processes, quality control, testing, assembly, and experimental workflows.
