The Laboratory of Intelligent Governance of Complex Social Systems is jointly established by Central South University and Hunan University of Technology and Business. As the first Ministry of Education Philosophy and Social Sciences Laboratory approved by our university, it gathers the advantageous disciplinary forces in fields such as Management Science and Engineering, Computer Science, Environmental Engineering, Public Health, and Transportation. Jointly facing national strategic needs and key scientific issues, it carries out interdisciplinary integration research and systematically explores the innovative theories and practical systems of intelligent governance of complex social systems with Chinese characteristics.

Intelligent governance of urban traffic is one of the important research directions of the key laboratory. Led by Professor Huang Heli from the School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering, Central South University, it addresses the major practical demand for green and smooth urban traffic. Aiming at the problems brought by the rapid urban development, such as the normalization of traffic congestion, the insufficient utilization of urban traffic infrastructure and public transport systems, and the increasing pressure of traffic emission reduction and carbon reduction, it carries out research on the collaborative optimization of intelligent traffic in the low-altitude economy, intelligent alleviation of traffic congestion and optimization of public transport, and optimization of urban road networks oriented to multi-factor collaboration from three different perspectives: air-ground integrated scheduling, short-term operation management, and long-term supply optimization, combined with advanced technologies such as traffic big data and large models. It provides theoretical methods and practical guidance for alleviating urban traffic congestion, promoting the green and low-carbon development of urban traffic, and advancing urban traffic governance into the intelligent era.
