On the afternoon of December 10, the 2025 Student Sports Development Summary and Recognition Meeting of the School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering at Central South University was held in Room C201 of the Century Building. More than 130 attendees participated, including Yuan Shiping, Secretary of the School Party Committee; Huang Helai, Dean of the School; Li Yuan, Deputy Secretary of the School Party Committee; counselors from various grades; and student representatives.
At the meeting, Dean Huang Helai delivered a speech. He pointed out that sports are an important component of the university’s educational system and a key force in promoting the comprehensive development of students. Drawing on his own experiences during external training and his university studies, he emphasized that the spirit of sports and teamwork mutually reinforce each other, holding profound significance for enhancing students’ overall quality. Dean Huang encouraged students to use sports as a bond to strengthen their physical fitness, temper their willpower, and cultivate their character. He stated that the school will continue to support the development of diverse sports activities to further promote interaction and exchange among teachers and students through sports.
Teacher Cai Mingxu reported on the school’s student sports development in 2025. He stated that under the strong leadership of the School Party Committee and the careful planning and coordination of the School Youth League Committee, a series of signature events such as the Fun Sports Meet and the “Welcome Cup” basketball competition were successfully organized. He comprehensively summarized the achievements of projects like mountaineering, basketball, and aerobics in university-level competitions. He also proposed further improving the project selection mechanism, strengthening daily training and competition preparation, and continuously enhancing the quality and distinctive level of the “Vitality Transportation School” initiative.
During the athlete representative speech segment, student Wei Jiaqi shared the hardships and gains from preparation and participation in competitions, sincerely thanking the school for providing a broad platform and the strong support from teachers and students. He stated that the spirit of sports has become an internal driving force pushing him to constantly surpass himself, and he will continue to carry forward the qualities of perseverance and striving for excellence in future studies and work.
During the recognition segment of the meeting, Yuan Shiping, Secretary of the School Party Committee; Huang Helai, Dean of the School; Li Yuan, Deputy Secretary of the School Party Committee; and Fan Jiajun, Director of the Student Affairs Office, presented certificates of honor to outstanding athletes in turn.
Finally, Secretary Yuan Shiping delivered a concluding speech. Using his own practical sports experiences as an introduction, he encouraged students to deeply appreciate the profound value of teamwork and camaraderie among classmates. He emphasized that sports are not only related to personal growth but also to national strength and rejuvenation, serving as an important vehicle for cultivating a new generation capable of undertaking the great task of national rejuvenation. Secretary Yuan called on all teachers and students in the school to work together to promote high-quality sports development with higher standards, continuously polish the “Vitality Transportation School” brand, and foster a prevailing atmosphere of sportsmanship and a culture of health among teachers and students, contributing youthful strength to the realization of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
