At 19:30 on September 28, the School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering of Central South University held the theme red song chorus competition ‘Celebrating the Anniversary with Red Songs’ at the Harmony Hall of Yuxiu Building on the New Campus and the auditorium of the Railway Campus. Chen Yuru, former Executive Vice Chairman of the Central South University Trade Union, Li Yuan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering, and Ding Dexiao, a counselor of the School, attended the competition at the South Campus. Ji Zhizhou, Executive Vice Chairman of the Central South University Trade Union, Cao Yaoqian, Director of the Railway Campus Management Committee, Yuan Shiping, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, Song Xiaodong, Deputy Director of the Student Affairs Department of Central South University, Zhang Yinggui, Deputy Director of the Railway Campus Management Committee, and Xiang Yuehua, Arts Specialist of the Central South University Trade Union, attended the competition at the Railway Campus.

At the opening of the Railway Campus venue, Secretary Yuan Shiping delivered an opening speech. He stated that the successful organization of the competition was inseparable from the mutual connection and cooperation among the student classes. He encouraged the students to continue singing red songs in their future study and life, inherit the red spirit, and promote the historical depth of revolutionary culture.

At the opening of the South Campus venue, Deputy Secretary Li Yuan delivered a speech. Looking back on the history of New China, she encouraged the students to integrate their personal ideals and pursuits into the grand blueprint of national development, to remain steadfast and strive tirelessly in their studies and work, articulating the profound significance of this competition.

The participating classes in this competition included 12 classes from the South Campus and 9 classes from the Railway Campus. Through rehearsal and refinement, they presented a stunning audio-visual feast for the audience. The chorus repertoire was diverse, such as the majestic and powerful ‘Defend the Yellow River’ and the melodious and graceful ‘I Love You, China’. Each participating team showed ingenuity by incorporating various performance forms, leading singing with recitation, and changing formations, thereby enhancing the beauty of the chorus.

When Class 2302 of Traffic Signal and Control sang ‘Song of Seven Sons’, they displayed the national flag and the flag of the Macao Special Administrative Region. The interplay of light and shadow on the flags, accompanied by the clear female lead voice, evoked feelings of warmth and beauty. The competition proceeded in an orderly manner, with continuous applause from the audience after each song.

A red song, sung in chorus, expresses boundless affection for the motherland. This red song competition gradually unfolded a magnificent historical scroll, recording past hardships, describing current development, and singing of future hopes. We are rooted in the land of China, each person a note in a grand musical movement. The youth should unite to build the Chinese Dream and sing of the future.
