The 5th Xiangjiang Forum for International Young Scholars (Session of Transportation Engineering), Central South University, came to a successful conclusion

From September 27 to 28, the Transportation Engineering Sub-forum of the 5th International Young Scholars Xiangjiang Forum was held at Central South University's Tianxin Campus. The university selected 18 young scholars from Germany, the UK, the US, Australia, Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, Macau, and other regions to participate in the event, aiming to create a high-level platform for academic exchange and collaborative development among outstanding young talents across diverse disciplines worldwide.

The forum officially commenced at 9:00 AM on the 27th in the conference room on the 14th floor of Century Building. Attendees included Qiu Fei, Deputy Director of the Talent Office at the University Personnel Department; Yuan Shiping, Party Secretary of the college; Huang Hela, Dean of the college; Liu Hui, Vice Dean; as well as department (center) directors and faculty representatives. The opening ceremony was presided over by Yuan Shiping, Party Secretary of the college.

Deputy Director Qiu Fei delivered a comprehensive policy interpretation covering institutional profiles, talent position configurations, and support mechanisms, demonstrating our university's commitment and appeal in talent recruitment. He extended sincere invitations to outstanding young talents worldwide, pledging full support and comprehensive resources for collaborators to jointly pursue development blueprints. Subsequently, Dean Huang Hela delivered a keynote speech titled "Open Education, Talent Maximization, and Building World-Class Disciplines," detailing recent advancements in transportation engineering through disciplinary overviews, faculty development, talent cultivation, cutting-edge research achievements, international influence, and strategic research platform development. This presentation highlighted the college's robust expertise and dynamic growth momentum in transportation engineering. Drawing from his academic and professional experiences, Dean Huang encouraged young talents to uphold the core values of "Quality, Character, and Passion," advocating for long-term career planning and selecting platforms that enable meaningful professional fulfillment.

Following the opening ceremony, the forum transitioned into an engaging academic presentation session. Dr. Ma Rui from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (USA), representing international young scholars, and Professor Chen Zhengwei, a distinguished young faculty member, delivered two high-caliber keynote speeches. Subsequent parallel sessions were held on the afternoon of the 17th and the morning of the 28th, chaired by department heads or secretaries from four academic divisions (centers). Focusing on cutting-edge topics including intelligent transportation systems, traffic safety, signal control technologies, artificial intelligence, big data analytics in transportation, and logistics solutions, the event featured 20 insightful academic presentations that vividly showcased the vibrant academic innovation landscape in this field.

The Transportation Engineering Sub-forum of Central South University's Fifth "International Young Scholars Xiangjiang Forum" has successfully concluded. This forum not only provided a high-level academic exchange platform for young scholars worldwide, but also injected new momentum into the college's talent recruitment and strategic development. Looking ahead, we look forward to collaborating with global talents to jointly contribute wisdom and strength to the advancement of transportation engineering disciplines.
