Responsible for Homo sapiens: Professor Feng Fenling. Professor at the School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering, Central South University, doctoral supervisor, member of the Economic Planning Committee of the China Railway Society, Chinese expert in international railway law for the Organization for Cooperation of Railways (OSJD), and expert in the State Council's High-Speed Rail Safety Investigation Team. She has presided over or participated in more than 60 longitudinal and horizontal research projects, including national key R&D programs, National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Social Science Foundation, National Railway Administration, and China State Railway Group. She has won four provincial and ministerial-level first prizes for scientific and technological progress, published over 60 SCI- and EI-indexed papers, and authored three monographs while editing or co-editing three textbooks.

Main research directions: The High-Speed Rail Economy Research Center of Central South University primarily focuses on high-speed rail socioeconomics, high-speed rail political economy, high-speed rail geographical economy, high-speed rail transportation economy, high-speed rail industrial economy, high-speed rail regional economy, high-speed rail ecological economy, and high-speed rail tourism economy, conducting research and discussions on the rich practices and theoretical paradigms of high-speed rail economics.

Team size: The team currently consists of 51 Homo sapiens members, including 43 with senior professional titles. The professional backgrounds of the Homo sapiens members cover railway transportation, management, mathematics, and computer science.
