With spring gracing the banks of the Xiang River and affection gathering at the Transportation Building, the School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering held the 10th Anniversary Exchange Meeting for its 2011 Transportation Management alumni and a Transportation Engineering Program Development Alumni Forum in Room 518 of the Transportation Building on the afternoon of April 12. Over 50 alumni representatives gathered with faculty and student representatives, including Dean Huang Helai, Deputy Director of the Campus Management Committee Zhang Yinggui, Director of the Transportation Department Zhou Wenliang, and 2011 cohort counselor Huang Yongming, to reminisce about their shared bonds and chart a blueprint for future development.

At the forum, Zhou Wenliang delivered the opening address, warmly welcoming alumni who have been working in various sectors such as rail transit operation management, logistics and supply chain, and transportation industry regulation back to their alma mater. Using detailed data and vivid examples, he comprehensively reviewed the program’s leapfrog development across multiple fields over the past decade. He particularly emphasized that the sustainable construction and high-quality development of the program are inseparable from the care and support of alumni, and he earnestly looked forward to their suggestions and advice for the program’s advancement.
The exchange forum was conducted in a lively atmosphere, with alumni speaking enthusiastically. They fondly recalled their decade-long journeys of hard work since graduation and shared insights and experiences from their career development. Dean Huang Helai engaged in in-depth dialogue with the alumni, inquiring in detail about each alumnus’s career trajectory and highly praising the outstanding performance of the alumni group at the industry’s forefront: “You have used a decade to interpret the mission and responsibility of ‘building a strong transportation nation.’ The School will always be the home port for your career expeditions and a haven for your spirits.” Alumni representatives such as Wen Hao, Zhang Danyang, and Liu Sheng spoke, offering valuable suggestions for the development of the Transportation Engineering program from various perspectives including emerging industries, industry trends, and professional skills.
It is reported that this exchange forum is a significant chapter in the series of activities marking the 10th anniversary of the graduation of the School’s 2011 undergraduate cohort. It also serves as an important discussion session within the broader debate on undergraduate education and teaching philosophy for the Transportation Engineering program. Moving forward, the School will continue to employ various methods such as forums, research, and seminars to inject new momentum into propelling the Transportation Engineering program to new heights.
